Manufacturing Engineer

 

 

Position Summary: This position is a hands-on engineering and technical support function serving the manufacturing and operations areas at Truform.  Tasks include process development and integrity in meeting customer requirements while maintaining a high level of operating effectiveness in the equipment, process and product characteristic areas.

Qualifications required:

  • 5-years’ experience in tooling, automation system development and problem solving in a manufacturing environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent
  • Ability to work within a team environment
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite
  • Proficient in CAD, GD&T and engineering software
  • Excellent attitude
  • Understanding of TS16949, 5S or other quality programs

 

 

 

Qualifications desired:

  • 5 plus years’ experience in an automotive manufacturing environment
  • 5S, Kaizen or other quality or lean manufacturing experience

Essential functions and responsibilities:

  • Maintains a clean and organized work area
  • Establishes a working knowledge of the Truform Business System
  • Works within all areas of Truform with the ability to effectively communicate ideas, problems and solutions to all employees
  • Conducts internal system audits
  • Coordinates part measurement layouts for conformance to prints
  • Develops work cell build analysis with a focus on streamlining operations with cost reductions
  • Works within engineering and operations in order to complete tooling, training and documentation tasks
  • Assists with tooling automation and equipment additions within the plant
  • Develops plant layouts, workflow diagrams and work cell layouts and maintains the plant layout drawings
  • Performs 5S activities within the plant and work areas to maintain work area cleanliness
  • Assists with cost reduction activities
  • Maintains the DMR log and ensures timely completion of open DMRs
  • Formulates corrective actions for non-value added operations
  • Evaluates, modifies and implements cost reduction and improvement ideas
  • Coordinates problem solving meetings, obtaining consensus and resolution to problems
  • Develops and implements corrective and preventive actions based on problem solving methods
  • Coordinates engineering changes ensuring documents and the quality system is updated
  • Develops product process flow charts, control plans, and FMEAs as required
  • Works within engineering to ensure timely completion of new product and process launches
  • Maintains the MSDS, OSHA safety log, and any health and safety training requirements
  • Reviews die and tooling designs for datum and print requirements conformance
  • Assists in developing accurate bills of materials for product in the plant
  • Develops PM schedules for equipment and ensures replacement parts are readily available
  • Assists in preparing PPAP packages per customer requirements
  • Develops weld schedules and provides weld problem solving
  • Integrates the theoretical with the practical
  • Must maintain a valid driver license
  • Other job duties as assigned

Physical demands and work environment:

  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time
  • Must be able to work at a computer for long periods of time
  • Must be able to occasionally work in an environment that is not climate controlled
  • Must be able to squat, bend, twist and move to inspect tooling, equipment and parts
  • Must have fine motor skills to grasp and manipulate small parts
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Must be able to work in a factory setting that is not climate controlled, as the project demands
  • Must be able to visually inspect parts with or without corrective lenses
